VMI X-Viber/X-ViberPro Data Collector Handheld Device - Handheld Vibration/Temperature/Speed Data Collector for Machine and Bearing Condition Trend Monitoring

VMI X-Viber/X-ViberPro Vibration Analyzer Data Collector Handheld Device - The X-Viber and X-ViberPro handheld devices have proven in thousands of units worldwide that the founder of PIM Ltd. - Eric Rahne - had a good insight into vibration diagnostic market needs back in 2000: in the most common applications, not only measuring the vibration level and bearing condition characteristic to the machine state is necessary, but also collecting its measurement data. Furthermore, additional vibration analysis is useful, and the built-in non-contact speed and temperature measurement is beneficial. The first realization of this idea was the VibMinder handheld vibration data collector device manufactured by PIM Ltd., which was first launched for sale in 2001 as the first series and eventually found satisfied customers in 70 units (half in Hungary and half on the international market). The idea of the device - later expanded and further developed - was taken over by the Swedish VMI company represented by PIM Ltd. in creating the VMI X-Viber device. This gave birth to the most successful device of VMI company, which has been holding its ground in the vibration measurement data collector devices market for almost 20 years! This device has now received a very worthy successor in the form of the VMI Viber-X4 device, which will now be marketed instead of the X-Viber. The following description of the X-Viber is now history!

The VMIX-Viber handheld device is capable of measuring peak-to-peak values in addition to the root mean square values typical of the general condition of rotating machinery for both vibration displacement, velocity, and acceleration. During data collection, prediction and limit value alarms are also displayed.

The handheld device supports various bearing condition assessment technologies: high-frequency acceleration measurement (with selectable filter) and demodulation. Whether there is insufficient lubrication or incipient or severe bearing damage, the device reliably detects all of these. In addition, the X-Viber has built-in analysis functions: it displays the five highest amplitudes and their frequencies during measurement.

The machines to be measured, measurement points, parameters to be measured, and indication and alarm levels can be predefined on a PC using the X-Trend software, organized into routes, and uploaded to the handheld device via a USB port. Based on trends created from data collected with the X-Viber and processed with the PC software, it can be estimated when each rotating machine should be repaired at the latest.

The X-Viber also allows for non-contact (infrared) temperature measurement, optical speed measurement, and dynamic single-plane balancing of rotating machinery, for which optional device software is available for two methods (3-point method and single-plane vector method). Features
  • broadband vibration level measurement, with selectable units: vibration displacement, velocity, or acceleration measurement
